Fierce Fearless and Free

The collection of myths and legends that young readers, parents, teachers and librarians most often mention to me is Girls Goddesses & Giants. So, we decided to do another one!

Fierce Fearless & Free isn’t exactly a sequel, because apart from another Inanna myth, it isn’t about what the same characters did next. But it is a follow-up, with the same aim of sharing stories from around the world about strong girls who don’t need a bloke with a sword to rescue them from a monster.

Fierce Fearless & Free contains traditional tales from China, Nigeria, Ireland, the Solomon Islands, Mexico, Italy, Scotland and many other countries and cultures, and it’s about girls who escape from werewolves, trick fairies, defeat giant snakes, create dragons, fight cannibals, wrestle mountains and challenge witches.

I had a wonderful time researching all these heroines, and I’ve loved telling their stories to audiences over the last couple of years. Now I’m really keen to share them with all of you!

And the most exciting thing is – the book is illustrated by the wonderful Eilidh Muldoon!

Fierce Fearless & Free is OUT NOW, and is published by Bloomsbury.
